hi I'm Jason Mathis director of fitness at California family fitness today we're going to talk about how to get started on your new workout routine I'm going to give you four key steps to ensure your success with your new program step 1 set realistic goals most individuals fail here because their expectations are too high and unrealistic what I mean by that is they plan on coming to the gym 5 to 6 days per week and it's unrealistic a realistic goal for new individuals with their workout program is 2 to 3 days per week step 2 consistency you've got to be consistent in your workouts so what you need to do first is put it in your planner write it down what days are gonna go to the gym if it's twice a week put in your planner step 3 proper nutrition pre-workout meal make sure you eat something 30 minutes before you workout to give you the energy that you need to burn more calories during your workout post-workout meal eat something with within 30 minutes of your last set this is going to give you the nutrients that your body needs to recover so you'll be ready for your next workout step four add variety to your workout day one upper body day two lower body day three maybe your total body the importance of adding variety means change the more change that you see in your workout the more results you're gonna see with your new workout routine for more information about how to work with one of our personal trainers at California Family Fitness please visit our website at California Family Fitness calm
