MORE CONSTRUCTION WILL SOON BE HAPPENING ON ROUTE 104. THE STATE DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION IS PROPOSING A ROAD DIET ON ROUTE 104 BETWEEN UNION STREET AND MANITOU ROAD IN THE TOWN OF PARMA. WHAT WOULD HAPPEN IS THEY WOULD BE REPAVING THE ROAD AND THEN CHANGING THE ROAD FROM A TWO-LANE ROAD ON EACH SIDE TO A ONE-LANE ROAD. THEY WILL ALSO BE ADDING A TURNING LINE IN THE MIDDLE. THE D-O-T SAYS IT WILL HELP KEEP PEOPLE SAFE. ((SOT)) Jordan Guerrein, Spokesman for the NYS Department of Transportation “We found over a three year period there were a number of crashes in this area, so this is what we’re doing. It’s a low cost alternative for us to really address some of the safety issues that we’re seeing on this roadway.” ((MAUREEN/VO)) THE PROPOSED CONSTRUCTION WOULD HAPPEN NEXT YEAR.
