When did they start calling them curl ups and why?

I. Was in from 79-85. Our instructor had us doing them differently. He would yell ,Push-Up position hut. Everyone hit the deck in the starting position. He then proceeded to tell us what all was on his mind. After about 3 minutes he would yell "Down". We would all go to the down position, and God help you if anything other than toes and hands were touching the floor. He would continue rambling on, about totally nothing, for another 3 min. then yell "Up". If we got 12-15 that was a milestone. I had worked on push-up prior to enlisting. It did not prepare me for that. I always figured that it was an endurance thing. Try it sometime for yourself. Maybe it was just us but it sure was a breaker.

All these people complaining that they're skinny, but that's actually the best body type to do push ups/curl ups/pull ups. Less body weight holding them down. Just from watching the video I can tell how strong they are. Anyone complaining is either a troll or an idiot.
