Hello, and welcome to another episode of Kyäni
Wellness TV. My name is Dr. Andreas Boettcher, member of
the Scientific Advisory Board here at Kyäni. Now, in this video, we’re gonna talk about
one of the biggest threats to your health that really no one is actually talking about
and one that I have yet to cover. Stay tuned. [00:00:22]
[Music] [00:00:37] So, let’s talk muscles for a moment. And the moment that I mention that word, what
comes up for you? Well, most of the time it comes up as these
iron clad bodies that you see here, toned physiques, beach body physiques, and what
many marketers and advertisers use to grace their covers. Well, I’m here to tell you that muscles are
a lot more than just simply aesthetics. In fact, they are the number one element in
your body that determine how well you age. In fact, obviously, they’re responsible for
your entire movement, your metabolism, your energy, your stamina, your endurance, your
ability to lift, your ability to enjoy life, to play with your grandkids, yet we often
take these muscles for granted. So, you’ve often heard me talk about, if you’ve
been a fan of Kyäni Wellness TV, by asking you a very simple question, “How do you want
to age?” And, you know, unfortunately, life can get
very busy for all of us. And we often take our health for granted,
me too. Forgetting that, over time, and very quickly,
much like a river running through a canyon slowly, whittling away at this very precious
muscle tissue. And I wanna talk to you about a very dangerous
threat to your health in just a moment. But remember, muscles are so much more than
just aesthetics. They provide us our strength, our ability
to be coordinated. They have a direct role in our bone density
and weight training, and resistance, and exercise that it provides, lowering our risk of injury,
improving our posture, and then, of course, boosting your metabolism. And so these are the many things, and it’s
not even a complete list, that your muscles provide for your body. However, what many people don’t realize is
that there is a silent threat to your health known as sarcopenia. And sarcopenia is just a fancy term for muscle
loss. And as we age, we lose it quickly. In fact, after the age of 30, we lose anywhere
from 3% to 8% of our muscle mass every single decade. The average male loses 30% of their muscle
mass by the time that they reach 60. And so as a result, this threat can lead to
all types of health problems, risk of injuries, falls, obesity, diabetes, fractures, and the
list goes on. Not to mention, living in an assisted living
facility and who on earth wants that? Now, the good news is that much of this is
preventable. But before we talk about that, let’s talk
about some of the statistics. You know, in 2000, 1.5 million people were
institutionalized. And 33% of these people were admitted to a
long-term health care facility because of their inability to perform activities of daily
living. Sarcopenia is thought to affect over 30% of
individuals over the age of 60 and more than 50% of people over the age of 80. Also, 45% of the U.S. population is affected
by sarcopenia. I want you to think about that number for
a moment. Nearly half of the United States population
is affected with some degree form or shape of muscle loss. Approximately, 20% of the U.S. population
is functionally classified as disabled. And the risk of disability is 1.5 to 4.6 times
higher in older persons with sarcopenia than in older persons with normal muscle. So, now the question becomes, what can you
do to prevent it? And like many things and many health challenges
that we talk about here at Kyäni Wellness TV, much of it is preventable. And if you do have sarcopenia, it can be reversed
to a certain degree. But certainly, ignoring it is only going to
perpetuate the problem. That stick your head in the sand approach
simply doesn’t work when it comes to your health and well-being. So, number one, first and foremost, you’ve
got to get enough protein. This is absolutely critical. The majority, about 40% of the population
is deficient in protein. And I’ve coached a lot of men, a lot of women
and even children to helping to better their physiques and their health as a result. And the majority of which are not consuming
enough protein, which provide the amino acids and the building blocks necessary to maintain
muscle density, muscle function, muscle growth, muscle stamina, and muscle retention. But to do that, you gotta move. You gotta get out there and exercise, and
you gotta weight train. Now, it doesn’t necessarily mean that you
have to go to the gym. You could simply do push-ups. You can do squats at home. You can do pull-ups at home. You can do some basic functional exercises
to help you preserve this vital, life essential muscle tissue that we all need if we want
to ultimately age well. You have to get enough vitamin D. And I’ve
got an entire episode on the power of vitamin D. But vitamin D is absolutely critical in
the synthesis of muscle tissue, repair, and protein synthesis itself. The same goes for Omega-3s. Omega-3s have a critical role in the protein
synthesis process. And a good 30%, 40% of the population, in
and of itself, is deficient in that one, as well, not to mention the vitamin D. And when
you’re deficient in both, it has a compounding effect. How do you know if you’re getting enough omega-3s? Well, you should be getting about two to three
servings, about six ounces of Alaskan salmon or something equivalent of that every single
week. And most of us are not doing that consistently. Limit alcohol. Alcohol wreaks havoc on your delicate muscle
tissue, destroying the vital amino acids and as a result degrading those proteins and affecting
protein synthesis adversely. And then, eliminate processed or inflammatory
foods, like your processed foods, your sugar, anything in a bag, pretty much anything in
a box are all going to wreak havoc. A diet rich in Omega-6 fatty acid, going to
be detrimental to your muscle health. What’s more important is that you get a diet
that’s high in anti-inflammatory foods, superfoods, power foods, antioxidants that help combat
the dangers of free radicals and oxidative stress. And it’s why we’ve put this entire program
together here at Kyäni, and have decided to come out with our very own FIT20 performance
protein. Now, I’m gonna be breaking down in future
episodes, how this product works, and all the individual ingredients, I’m gonna touch
upon them here just so you know that you’re aware. But the bottom line is, and I will always
say this, I do prefer to get my protein from wholesome food sources. But supplementing becomes very convenient
and very important. In fact, it’s one of my favorite ways to start
my day. In fact, I just had one today after my morning
workout with a scoop of cacao powder, almond milk, and a quarter of an avocado. And it came out to a very nice creamy, smooth,
chocolatey, very wholesome and nutritious recovery shake to help preserve the vital
muscle tissue that we all need. And, of course, our triangle of health provides
the anti-inflammatory foods, vitamin Ds, the omega-3s, the antioxidants to help you to
preserve your muscle tissue and health. And these are absolute staples for me and
my family in our diet, and of course, our well-being. Now, if you don’t get them from us, you must
get them from somewhere. These are what I call the non-negotiables. You need to build these into your diet, not
just one day, not just two days, but seven days a week, 365 days a year, to help you
to preserve this very vital tissue. Now, our FIT20 protein is a very unique blend
of whey protein isolate and hydrolyzed type 1 and type 3 collagen. We chose whey protein isolate because it’s
the most purest form and most bioavailable form of proteins, heavily concentrated, and
it has less than 1% of the lactose that often causes those dairy reactions. We don’t like dairy in our home. My wife doesn’t like it, but she loves our
FIT20. She’s able to consume it. It doesn’t bloat you. It doesn’t make you belch. It doesn’t give you the gassy feeling. It’s very smooth and it’s very easily mixed. And it’s very easily absorbed. I’m gonna talk about some of the benefits
of whey here in just a moment. And then also, the hydrolyzed collagen that
helps to provide the necessary amino acids for your ligament health, for your tendon
health, for your bone health, for your hair, your skin, and your nails, all essential to
helping your body to recover. And what’s really unique about collagen is
that collagen helps to bind to the satellite cells that float around your myelofibrosis
or the fibers that make up your muscle tissue. And as they bind to these satellite cells,
these satellite cells are responsible for the repair of your muscular system, as a result,
to exercise in training and fitness. So, it’s very important, and it’s why we decided
to make a blend of these two to give you the best of both worlds with a complete amino
acid profile found in the whey protein isolate, which delivers a rich source of leucine, that
is very critical to helping to stimulate protein synthesis, but also to maintain your muscle
tissue, and particularly, when you’re trying to lose weight. And not to mention one of my favorite benefits
of whey in its ability to produce glutathione. Glutathione is the master antioxidant of the
body that is essential for free radical repair, reducing oxidative stress, maximizing the
benefits of vitamin C, vitamin E, CoQ10, alpha-lipoic acid, and other key nutrients in boosting
your immunity and your overall health and well-being. Because supplementing with glutathione, in
and of itself, is actually ineffective. It’s poorly absorbed. So, it’s much better to provide the precursors. And not to mention, it also provides the immunoglobulins
that are very important for stimulating protein synthesis. All very critical to obviously getting the
most bang for your buck with a very high-quality bioavailable nutrient source. And this is hydrolyzed collagen because it’s
been broken down in its most pre-digested form. So, it’s absorbed quickly and can yield its
result even quicker. So, with that being said, we also have some
additional ingredients to use to enhance our FIT20 product, L-Citrulline malate. L-Citrulline, these are nitric oxide precursors
that help to relieve muscle soreness. It takes advantage of the L-Citrulline, L-Arginine
pathway. But also, what’s really critical, especially
from an exercise performance standpoint, and even afterwards in recovery, is that it actually
helps to recycle the ammonia, which is a byproduct of amino acid metabolism. It also helps to preserve the breakdown of
amino acids that can occur in the liver prematurely, so it helps to preserve them there as well. And then, of course, it also helps to recycle
that lactic acid, that burn that you get from working out, that fatigue that you feel to
help eliminate this waste product from your body and recycling them and actually creating
more nitric oxide in the process. L-Carnitine Tartrate relieves muscle soreness,
aids in recovery, and is very important for fat metabolism. L-Carnitine is actually what shuttles the
free fatty acids into the mitochondria. It needs a transport. Without L-Carnitine, which a lot of vegans
are very deficient in because it’s found mostly in meat, is essential for transporting the
fatty acids into the mitochondria, so that it can produce the ATP for energy. And it helps to burn it. It helps you to maximize that burn that you
get when you ignite the furnace, as I call it when you go to the gym and your metabolism
is skying, and you’re burning calories because you just had a great workout. This will help to shuttle those free fatty
acids that are floating through your blood and help to accelerate fat loss, which is
very important with any type of weight loss goal. And then, of course, we got a blend of magnesium,
zinc, and chromium, which are very important for protein synthesis, growth hormone, fat
loss, immune support, balancing blood sugar levels, stabilizing blood sugar levels. Eighty-percent of the population is deficient
in magnesium. We sweat out zinc. The body cannot store it. When you’re working out and exercising, you
actually lose zinc in your seat so it needs to be replenished. These are very common mineral deficiencies. So, you can start to see why this is a high-performance,
high-quality protein product that is designed to help you maximize your workouts and preserve
that vital muscle tissue. Now, here’s the beautiful thing is that we
have no artificial… Not only is it’s important what’s in here,
but also what’s not in here. There are no artificial flavors, colors, or
sweeteners, fillers, binders, or flow agents. And this is very difficult to find in your
local “GNC,” your vitamin shop, or your box stores where you can buy protein by gallons
and by the jugs. They’re loaded with fillers. They’re loaded with binders. They’re loaded with artificial sweeteners
that actually have been shown to stimulate weight to help increase appetite. And they’re basically in a way a toxin. They get stored inside the fat cells themselves
and the body has no way of actually getting rid of them. Instead, we’ve chosen stevia and, of course,
we’ve chosen a monk fruit. So, in essence, I can proudly say this is
going to be one of the cleanest, purest protein products on the market today. You will not find another product on the market
today that’s gonna be more clean and gonna be more pure than our FIT20 here at Kyäni. And I invite you to do your research. And I don’t know about you, I don’t skimp
when it comes to my health. I like to put the best in my body. It’s why we at the Scientific Advisory Board
have decided to put the best quality ingredients, the best sources, the highest quality proteins
so that you can get the ROI that you are looking for. Now, here’s also what’s exciting. It is 100% natural, zero sugars, 99% lactose-free,
non-GMO, keto-friendly, and it’s even gluten-free. And so I strongly encourage you to give a
strong consideration to the FIT20 performance protein as a part of your daily diet. I love it for a post workout or even combining
it with our Sunrise to make a full-on meal replacement. Add your favorite berries, your banana, strawberries,
add a scoop of almond butter to it. There’s all kinds of recipes that we have,
we’ve put together for you to help you get the biggest bang for your buck. And, of course, all of our manufacturer certifications,
GMP, NSF, ISO, FDA quality facility. And we’re in the process right now, it’s being
manufactured by Informed-Choices certification that is done by our manufacturer to ensure
that it’s safe for athletes to use. Of course, this product is so new at the time
of this video anyway that we’re in the process right now of getting this seal of approval. But I want you to know that this is made in
a facility that is Informed-Choice approved. And, of course, follow us on social media
