Hi everyone. Welcome to a new year on
campus. I’m Sian Beilock, President of Barnard College and I’m Sukanya, a peer
educator at the Well Woman office and we’re excited to introduce a new
initiative- Feel Well, Do Well @ Barnard. We all know that taking care of yourself
is an important part of feeling and doing your best and that’s really what this initiative is all about. We want to support you on your journey during your best and most challenging days here at the college. Feel Well, Do Well is part of the college’s commitment to providing services to help us stay healthy. It’s also important that these services are accessible to all of us. Over the course of the academic year you’re going to see events with this logo. Each event or activity is designed to help you explore “your wellness, your way” and will provide tips, techniques, and knowledge to help you succeed at Barnard. For example, “my wellness, my way” is usually a short walk in Riverside Park each day. We know from cognitive science research that being out in nature can boost concentration skills and a walk in Riverside Park helps me relax and focus on what I’m going to accomplish that day. Our team of Well Woman peer educators will be at each event to work with you. Whether it’s learning a new way to exercise or relax or honestly just having someone to talk to, we want to make sure that you feel supported. This month we’re kicking off “Feel Well, Do Well @ Barnard” with the health services open house on Friday September 6th from 1 to 4 p.m. at Brooks Hall. Feel free to come by to meet the many members of the Health and Wellness team. You can
even get a free flu shot. Stay tuned for a different video each month that highlights a Feel Well, Do Well @ Barnard theme and activities to go with
it and know that wherever you see the logo you have an ally who’s there to help and support your health and wellness endeavors. It’s a new year, a new start, and we’re so excited to be here to launch this initiative. Let’s take care of ourselves and each other together.
