Hello friends now here in this video we will see what is meant by Endurance limit or Endurance stress now Endurance limit or endurance stress to understand this here I’ll draw a graph this graph is of stress versus number of cycles now your endurance limit or endurance stress as we can see this graph is of stress versus number of cycles so if the stress value is high then the number of cycles for which the object can be used is less that is if a material is operated at high stress condition then it will operate for less number of time that is for less number of cycles but if we go on decreasing the value of stress on the material the number of cycles goes on increasing that is if we are reducing the value of stress as we can see from a high stress value if we go on decreasing the value then the number of cycles will go on increasing and if we reach a particular value where that is a particular value of stress where the material or will operate for infinite number of cycles so your there is some stress which is denoted by Sigma E and that would be called as endurance stress endurance stress is that stress if at that value the material is used or stressed then it will operate for infinite number of cycles so the life of the material increases so I can say that endurance limit indicates the stress at which the material may be used for infinite number of cycles so endurance limit is that limit which indicates the stress at which the material may be used for infinite number of cycles hence operating the material at endurance limit will increase its life that is it will increase the life of the material and we can say that endurance stress is completely reversed bending stress and with the help of endurance limit and endurance stress the material may operate up to 10 raise to 7 cycles during its lifetime so in this video we have seen what is meant by Indians limit or endurance stress
